Helena Poczykowska – Peter Holtslag – Carsten Lohff
Alto – Recorder & Transverse flute - Harpsichord
is a relatively new ensemble. The lady and two gents amalgamate their long and worldwide experience on all major concert platforms - from London to Sydney - and are able to captivate their audiences. At the moment, we have two programmes : Betörte Welt (deluded world) – JS Bach and french comtemporaries with works from – amongst others - JS Bach, Marchand, Couperin and Handel. The Grand Tour – a musical journey from England to Italy with works by Purcell, Locke, Telemann, Storace, Ferrari and others.
HELENA POCZYKOWSKA, alto
specializes in both early and contemporary music. Her repertoire comprises the most important solo parts of 17th and 18th century oratorio and opera works as well as songs and chamber music of all epochs. Born in Bialystok, Poland, Helena started her musical education there, playing the piano. In 2008, she graduated with distinction from the Vocal/Theatrical Department of the Academy of Music in Kraków. As an ensemble singer she shared the concert platform with ensembles such as Collegium Vocale Gent directed by Philippe Herreweghe, Le Poème Harmonique - Vincent Dumestre, Cappella Amsterdam - Daniel Reuss, Amsterdam Baroque Choir - Ton Koopman, Balthasar Neumann Chor - Thomas Hengelbrock, RIAS Kammerchor Berlin - Justin Doyle. As a soloist she receives invitations from prestigious musical events such as Misteria Paschalia, Opera Rara (Kraków), The Baroque Opera Festival Dramma per Musica (Warsaw), Bach 200 UW (Warsaw), Gdynia Classica Nova (Gdynia), Organy Plus (Gdańsk), Olavsfestdagene (Trondheim), Svatováclavský Hudební Festival (Ostrava), Festival de musique Baroque d'Ambronay, Festival baroque (Sablé-sur-Sarthe). She performed the role of Lume di Scienza in the world premiere of Antonio Draghi's sacred opera "Il Terremoto" (1682), conducted by Vincent Dumestre and directed by Benjamin Lazar. This production was realized in cooperation with French television Mezzo.
PETER HOLTSLAG, recorder and transverse flute
Born in Amsterdam, Peter Holtslag studied recorder at the Sweelinck Conservatorium of his native town, graduating ‘cum laude’, his leading source of inspiration being Frans Brüggen. From then onwards he has toured worldwide as a recorder and transverse flute player. A distinguished soloist and chamber musician, playing both "early" and contemporary music, he shared the concert platform with musicians such as Gustav Leonhardt, William Christie, Roy Goodman and ensembles such as The English Concert, The Orchestra of the 18th Century, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, La Fontegara Amsterdam and Trio Noname. He has also recorded for radio stations all over the globe ( ABC Sydney, National Radio USA, WDR Köln, NOS Holland, New Zealand Radio, BBC London etc ). He appeared at major festivals in many of the European cultural capitals including Utrecht, London, Lisbon, Paris, Berlin, Bilbao and Copenhagen. His numerous CD-recordings on most major labels (such as Hyperion, DGG/Archiv, Harmonia Mundi, Chandos, Aeolus, CPO) have won international acclaim. From 1984 to 1988 Peter taught at the Guildhall School of Music in London and in 1988 he was appointed as professor to both the Royal Academy of Music, London and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He was a guest lecturer at the City University London; a guest professor at Academies in Amsterdam, Prague, St.Petersburg, Helsinki, Berlin, Budapest,and Kraków, and held numerous international master classes all over the globe (Hong Kong, Lisbon, Wellington etc.).
CARSTEN LOHFF, harpsichord
was fascinated by Renaissance polyphony from an early age onwards. He began his harpsichord studies at the Academy of Music in Hamburg with Gisela Gumz while still at school, later adding the second subject of music theory with Christoph Hohlfeld. Further studies with Johann Sonnleiter (Zürich), Bob van Asperen (Den Haag) and Gustav Leonhardt (Amsterdam) followed. A wealth of CDs, recorded with such ensembles as Le Concert Brisé, Cantus Cölln and La Rêveuse, document his work as a soloist and continuo player, and he is a frequent guest at Europe’s major early music festivals. Alongside an international carreer as a harpsichordist, Carsten Lohff began studying the baroque harp with Andrew Lawrence-King in 1997, continuing with Mara Galassi in Milan from 1998 until 2000. In 2001, he was appointed professor for historical keyboard instruments at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bremen. Previous teaching posts included positions at the academies of Nuremberg and Trossingen. In addition he has been teaching harpsichord and continuo playing at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg since 1992.

spezialisiert sich in Alter sowie Zeitgenössischer Musik. Ihr Repertoire umfasst die wichtigste Oratorien und Messen von J.S.Bach, G.F.Händel, W.A.Mozart, J.Haydn und eine beträchtliche Zahl von Opern aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Darüber hinaus erweitert sie ihr Repertoire mit Liederabenden. Als Vokalensemblesängerin füllt sich ein Teil ihres professionellen Lebens mit Ensemblemusik aus allen Epochen. Geboren in Bialystok, Polen, fing Helenas musikalische Ausbildung dort mit Klavier und Vokalensembles an. 2008 schloss sie ihr Studium an der Krakauer Musikakademie cum laude ab. Als angesehener Solist und Kammermusiker stand er auf der Bühne und unternahm Konzertreisen mit Musikern und Ensembles wie Gustav Leonhardt, William Christie, Roy Goodman, The English Concert, The Orchestra of the 18th Century, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, La Fontegara Amsterdam, The Parley of Instruments, etc. Er hat weltweit für Rundfunk wie ABC Sydney, National Radio USA, WDR Köln, NOS Holland, New Zealand Radio, BBC London aufgenommen und spielte in führenden Festivals in, z.B., Utrecht, London, Lisbon, Paris, Berlin, Bilbao und Copenhagen. Seine zahlreiche CD-Einspielungen bei renommierten Labels (DGG/Archiv, Hyperion, Chandos, Harmonia Mundi, Aeolus, CPO, etc.) fanden international Anerkennung. Von 1984–88 unterrichtete er an der Guildhall School of Music in London, und 1988 wurde er als Professor sowohl an der Royal Academy of Music, London als auch an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg berufen. CARSTEN LOHFF, Cembalo
Schon in seiner Jugend begeisterte sich Carsten Lohff für die Polyphonie der Renaissance. Noch während der Schulzeit begann er sein Cembalostudium bei Gisela Gumz in Hamburg, es folgte Musiktheorie als 2. Hauptfach bei Christoph Hohlfeld. Seine Ausbildung setzte er fort bei Johann Sonnleitner (Zürich), Bob van Asperen (Den Haag) und Gustav Leonhardt (Amsterdam).
Zahlreiche CD-Veröffentlichungen, u.a. mit den Ensembles Le Concert brisé, Cantus Cölln und La Rêveuse dokumentieren seine Arbeit als Solist und Continuospieler; bei nahezu allen bedeutenden europäischen Festivals für Alte Musik war er zu Gast.
Neben seiner Laufbahn als international gefragter Cembalist begann er 1997 ein Studium der Barockharfe bei Andrew Lawrence-King, welches er 1998-2000 bei Mara Galassi in Mailand fortsetzte.
2001 wurde er zum Professor für Historische Tasteninstrumente an die Hochschule für Künste Bremen berufen. Vorausgegangene Stationen seiner Hochschultätigkeit waren Nürnberg und Trossingen ; bereits seit 1992 lehrt er außerdem an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg die Fächer Cembalo und Continuospiel.
